A Professor in the Design Studies and Art Department at UW, I teach Textile Design and Papermaking. Prior to joining the faculty at Madison, I taught for 18 years as an adjunct, heading the Fiber area in the Art Department at Macalester College, Saint Paul, Minnesota.

My classes focus on traditional and experimental ways of manipulating cloth and paper. I aspire to create a studio-classroom environment that honors individual student experiences, respects the discipline's traditions, and makes room for the unexpected. Students are encouraged to be aware of the impact their material choices have on our environment; to think locally and globally as they find their own voice and build individual creative practices.
